Welcome

I have created this Blog for all of you who have that 'dumb' question that you want to ask an airline pilot and were always afraid to do so. Also for those who just want to get an insider's view on travel (air travel in particualr).

I hope to help anyone that reads this get a better understanding of air travel from many different prespectives.

Those looking for answers on anything from; What is turbulence? to How do I make a career as a pilot? and anything in between.

Who am I?

My name is Brian. I am a pilot for a major airline based in the northeastern United States. I have over 10 years flying experience in everything from small Cessna and Piper airplanes to Lear Jets, Regional Jets and Large Transport Jets. I currently fly the Airbus 320 which will carry anywhere from 130- 162 passengers depending on the configuration.

Feel free to ask questions that you'd like answered and suggest topics that you'd like to hear more about.

Thanks for visiting!

Brian

hello!
i just found this blog and interested in it.
i have one question for you.
in the pilot interview, they usually ask, 'why do you want to be a pilot?'. and the answer usually because of money and travel. i want to be a pilot. but i don't know how to answer this question.
can you please give me the idea to answer this question? maybe i should ask you, why you want to be a pilot?
maybe its a silly question, but i really need your help.
thank you.

I've never been asked that question in a pilot interview. Once you get an interview for a pilot job, you are already a pilot. In order to get paid as a pilot you must have a commercial pilot's certificate. If I was asked this question in an interview my answer would be "because I want to fly". Usually an interview is conducted in part or in whole by another pilot, they would know exactly what you mean by that answer.

The more pressing question that would be asked is: "why our company?" That one you have to answer yourself, because each person has their individual reasons for wanting any one of the hundreds of types of jobs at hundreds of companies.

Hope this helps

thank you. but i didn't have commercial pilot certificate yet. I'm now applying for MAS cadet pilot program. and there will be an interview for that. and the 'must ask' question is 'why you want to be a pilot?'
can you give a few suggestion from a pilot view to answer this question?
really appreciate it.
thank you.

My answer would be: "because I want to fly." Once you've been behind the controls and experienced that freedom of flight, there's no going back. That's something you'll have to decide for yourself. Above all be real with the interviewers, they can sniff out a fake in seconds.
